I seriously doubt they'll even remember it when they're older, but on the plus side, they probably wont get run over, run away or get abuducted as easily :-D
When i had my first child 21 years ago, the best gift I got was a leash. I used it with him and the other three children I had. At times it was a god send since I had 4 small children and two hands. I never had to worry about them running off or getting kidnapped. My daughter has a 2 year old and she uses a leash in public as well. None of my kids were scarred since after they were about 5 they didn't need the leash anymore/
when you have a toddler, a leash is a lifesaver.. toddlers want to walk around and explore, but they need to have limits.
Case in point: I went camping with my now 3 yr last year...she was into everything. We live in Florida, land of gators...some of those buggers get to be a pretty good size; big enough to consider a very little girl a snack. Not to mention there were camp fires and some good size ant mounds scattered about.
We had a lot of fun, but safety first! There is no way I wasn't going to keep her on a leash while walking around or in a pen when I was busy.
It's all about HOW it is used. If it is just a safety net to keep them from being abducted or running into the street, that's fine. If it is used so you don't have to pay attention to the kid, it's wrong! I used it with my hyper runner but I was holding his hand at the zoo or whatever. but it was attached to me in case he ran so we didn't get separated.
This is sick...if you cant put time into parenting to teach your children to not run away or you refuse to do so, stop being lazy and get a dog. Dogs go on leashes, children should not. If your husband wanders away are you going to put a leash on him? I hope to god not. Sure, if youre going somewhere incrediably crowded or you have multiples maybe I can see them being useful but more than likely theyre used so a parent can do whatever and have their kids run wild on their leashes... what are they going to think of next? A choke collar so that the parents' arms dont get tired from pulling their kids along? - wouldnt surprise me...
this is awesome! And very responsible. Once children grow older they become trained to not go off and leave their parents side while out in public. Helps a lot to keep the child safe and in arms reach incase of any real danger. Though I'm all for letting kids explore and even hurt their selves from time to time because that is part of the learning process.
If you where lucky enough to have all your children not want to go exploring every chance they got, then you where lucky... or your child to dull to want to know the world around them!
Leashes for kids are a necessity! I was a child once... and my parents took me both CAMPING and CHURCH. I am no longer alive because I didn't have a leash. Neither are my 3 brothers that my mother had to watch over.
Do you know how long a child would have to be alive for a stranger to abduct it? Statistically speaking... something like 750 million years.
I don't have children... I'm just responsible enough to NOT have any. I wouldn't want to neglect them by not giving them attention enough to CARRY them or HOLD their HAND.
This is very silly. I have a one year old who doesn't like to ride in the stroller, and doesn't like to hold hands or be carried. But she loves her "leash" because its just a safety device when we're in the busy city near the roads, and otherwise its there to give her the freedom to explore rather than having to be carried or strapped into the pram.
Morons.. I'm a dad of two kids, and I'll never give them a leash.. they're not a bunch of pets you know. We're able to do it, you can too... don't be so lazy.
It's not so bad, my parents used it when I was small and now use it on my small sis. The leash was made of leather and they also used it to spank my bare legs when I misbehaved.

Just...wow...
these kids are gonna be scarred for life.
Pfft, it's not a terrible idea. Scarred for life? Not from running into traffic.

PS...VERY cute collection of pictures!

June 8, 2009 10:03 PMI frequently have my little girl on a leash....
..in fact...on Sunday at Church....she almost got run over by a humongous SUV because she WASN'T on the leash.
I don't think the leashes are long enough to be used so you don't have to pay attention to a toddler.
Toddlers are fairly good at obtaining attention.
Most people criticizing these leashes don't have ANY kids....or they don't remember the toddler years.

June 10, 2009 8:13 PMIdiot freaks!!! I could solve these problems 3 times with my children wihout a leash. NO GOOD FOR PARENTS
