Inside An Abandoned Luxury Resort In The Catskills

Dec 23, 2011

Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel was once a haven for New Yorkers looking to escape the summer heat in the city.

Today it's an eerie, vacant property that would make a great backdrop for a horror movie.

The resort, which earned a place in ski history when it became the first place to make artificial snow, hasn't welcomed any guests since it shut its doors in 1986.

I kinda want to buy it.

whats your offer? I can make it happen.

I remember it fondly. My parents loved it, and I stayed their with them and my sisters several times in the Sixties. The skating rink was magnificent.

Surprising how little graffiti there is! Clearly this is a well-kept secret. This really points up the importance of building maintenance in a harsh climate...

What a shame...all went downhill after Jenny Grossinger passed on to that great hotel in the sky, particularly the food quanlity.
Wonder why those 5 Haredi millionaires who want to start a segregated by gender free-ride bus system in Jerusalem don't buy this place and open a Jerusalem-West, super Glatt Kosher, Ultra-Orthodox hotel, complete with free pych-anti-stress analysis for guests?
